Market  Data Advisory Notices
To Market Data Distributors
From Market Data Operations
Subject REMINDER - London Hub Questionnaire.
Notice Date December 13, 2002
Notice Number QVC-21
Effective Date

IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY RESPONSED TO THE CME LONDON HUB QUESTIONNAIRE, PLEASE DO SO BY MONDAY, DECEMBER 16.   THE EMAIL RESPONSES SHOULD BE SENT TO MARILEE RADECKI AT MRADECKI@CME.COM .  IF YOU NEED ANOTHER COPY OF THE TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION, PLEASE LET HER KNOW THAT AS WELL. THANK YOU.

We would like to know your interest in receiving CME market data directly from the exchange via a connection to our telecommunications hub in London.

In August of this year, CME upgraded to a next-generation data feed platform and network.  Our previous network, a 56kbs serial connection, was no longer able to keep up with the demands of our increases in trading volume and business needs.  Consequently, a new TCP/IP-based network was implemented along with changes to our feed which added new data and enables data distributors to manage bandwidth by subscribing to data “channels” that best fit their customers’ needs.

Most significantly, market depth for CME’s electronically traded contracts on its GLOBEX system are now available to all data distributors on the new feed.  In addition, the channels have been configured as follows with their recommended bandwidth:

Channel

Description

1

ITC 2.1 Floor Data (Exchange ID “M”)

2

ITC 2.1 GLOBEX Data (Exchange ID “H”)

3

ITC 2.1 Indexes (Exchange ID “M”)

CME has been working with existing direct data distributors to migrate to the new system.  This process is expected to be complete by the end of 2002.

As a global exchange, CME recognizes the need to extend its market data outside of its home market.  Traditionally, data distributors in Europe and Asia have received CME market data from one of the CME direct distributors who had telecommunications networks outside of the U.S.

CME is seriously considering implementing its new data feed system in our new London hub.  If there is enough interest from data distributors in receiving their CME data directly from our London hub rather than from another data distributor, CME will commit resources to putting the system into place, likely in the first quarter of 2003.

Attached is the technical documentation on the new feed which may help you in assessing your level of interest.

We would like to know if you are interested in CME making its new data feed available through our London hub.  Please let us know by emailing mradecki@cme.com by December 15.  If you have any further questions, please contact Marilee Radecki at the same email address.   We look forward to hearing from you.
